Andrew Marr quits the BBC
Another middle aged white man quits.

Want's to get his own voice back apparently.

Probably be replaced by Amol Rajan.

Re: Andrew Marr quits the BBC
I noticed that he seemed to be well researched and polite even when he was pushing hard, something Marr rarely manages.

My real hero was Brian Walden, a superb interviewer. Robin Day was probably the next best, followed by Sissons and Paxman.

He was a brexiter though.
He puts the interviwer at their ease and then takes them by surpise with a really awkward question which kind of works.

I just assumed amol rajan bored everyone so senseless they answered any questions. A bit like a torture filled interrogation.

He is another lefty, but I agree, he has been very good on the media show, one of the few decent outputs they have left.

'I like Boris because he's funny' shouldn't really be something you vote for.

*rolls eyes*

Amol Rajan is a very good interviewer. He was great hosting the Media show on Radio 4. His style is open and probing and not the hard core Paxman style "why is this fucking liar lying to me" schtick.

By the way, I paid my three quid and voted Corbyn in. You can thank me later.

Not really. I despise Tony Blair probably more than any modern day politician. Even above Theresa May. Neither of those are 'extremely left'.

Nearly right, though. Nice try.

Why do we really give such a fuck about personally politics?

'I like Boris because he's funny' shouldn't really be something you vote for. History will not be kind to Boris Johnson, believe me.

In a way, we've never really shook off medieval surfdom with the exception of the great wars where the 'great and the good' had to admit that the lower orders could fight like lions.

If only there was a party that looked out for its lions now instead of despising them.

First became aware of amol rajan a couple of years ago when he filled in for someone on bbc2. I had no idea who he was, but I couldn't get over how unbelievably boring he was. It was painful. He doesn't seem quite as bad on tv, but he's still an absolute personality vacuum

Re: Andrew Marr quits the BBC
Yeah, but don't you think that anyone who holds any other opinion to yours is 'extremely left'?

I always thought he was extemely left, so no surprise to me.

Re: Andrew Marr quits the BBC
Well up to a while ago he certainly didn’t hold back and steamed into the centre right, leavers or the conservatives. Couldn’t have an interview without arguing or interrupting them after two words.
It all has toned down a bit in recent months, too civil for him perhaps that’s what he doesn’t like.
That’s why I questioned is he more hard left than we think?

Re: Andrew Marr quits the BBC
He wont be going to another network

He's joining LBC, as he felt at the BBC he wasn't able to talk about how he really felt on certain matters.

Has a new radio show starting in the new year.

Re: Andrew Marr quits the BBC
I find that those who shout the loudest about being a red...whatever that may be - are usually the most conceited of all...people who commit to the greater good are far too busy getting on with it and contributing socially in practice rather than wasting time learning the words to the red flag.

A good egg is a good egg... regardless the colour of the rosette...unfortunately there just ain't enough of them!

Re: Andrew Marr quits the BBC
Years ago Andrew Marr was a Maoist who handed out those little red books.
I would say that makes him a leftie wouldn't you?.

He is according to, um... Andrew Marr. So, he would probably know.
